After 17 successful years as a vice president in Queens, NY, Debbie made the courageous decision to leave corporate America behind and follow her passion for creating unique, handcrafted personalized gifts. This led to the founding of The Custom Cottage Company, which has flourished remarkably in just two years. Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I live in Holbrook NY with my husband Stephen. Together we have three beautiful children and six grandchildren.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I have spent most of my professional career in food service, for the past fourteen years I assumed the role of Vice President in a medical facility in queens NY. Overseeing multiple departments, the travel into the city became challenging so in 2022 I decided to pursue a dream of mine. That dream was to open my own business, with the help and support of my husband we launched The Custom Cottage Company. In just two short years it has turned into a fulfilling and rewarding business.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
If you have dreams and aspirations go after it and never look back. Dreams do come true!
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I will continue to build my business, always putting my customers first. Would like to continue to pursue travel, enjoy family and friends. Live each day to the fullest and impact others in a positive way.

A few of my favorite restaurants are Irish Times and Sushi and Hibachi
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have lived in Holbrook for the past twelve years.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Our neighbor Charlie Vassalo, kind, helpful and super involved in the community. Charlie knows everyone, if you need a guy Charlie has a guy for you!
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
The Maybar Superette, everyone remembers the Maybar!
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Our community is comprised of kind and helpful residents. Individuals that take pride in their hometown. Many families have been here for generations, when you talk to long time residents they are always happy to tell you a story of “back in the day”.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Would love to have lunch with my father in-law Babe Bello. We would go to Irish Times.

I achieved Vice President Status without any higher education. School of hard knocks!
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A ten out of ten for me is a wonderful experience in a restaurant, service, food and atmosphere. The establishment creates an overall mfeel good experience.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My family inspires me, want to set a positive example for my children and grandchildren.
