About Anthony Piccirillo
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My brother, Alex, and I are lifelong residents of the 8th Legislative district. We were
raised by our mother Paula, who was widowed at 29 years old and left to raise two young
children. She is a personal hero of mine, as I have seen her be able to navigate the perils of life
and get up day after day to work and provide for her family. She continues to have a tremendous
impact on me. Her ability to smile and face life’s challenges head on, even after profound losses,
has instilled a sense of resiliency that I carry with me day in and day out.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?

It has been the honor of a lifetime to wake up every day for the last five years and serve
the residents of the 8th LD. I pride myself in being a full time Legislator and working side by side
with my staff to answer the concerns of all constituents. I am now in my third term and my
record includes; voting to preserve hundreds of acres of open space while protecting our drinking
water and the Great South Bay, fighting to make sure law enforcement has the tools they need to
keep us safe, and voting against reckless spending and tax increases to keep more money in the
pockets of hardworking taxpayers.

Q: What advice would you give to people?

In a world that often moves too fast, it’s important to pause and appreciate the strength,
kindness, and unity that defines who we are. Together we have built a place where neighbors
become friends, and small acts of kindness ripple into something great. Every smile, every
helping hand, and every shared success contributes to the spirit that makes our community so
special.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

I hope to still be serving my community in some capacity, whether that’s in public
service, volunteer work, or another role where I can make a positive impact. Right now, I’m
focused on doing the best job I can as a legislator, and beyond that, I’ll see where I’m needed
most. I’ve always believed that public service isn’t about the title you hold, but about the work
you do for your neighbors.

Anthony Piccirillo & Our Community

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

My staff and I often frequent Hummus Mediterranean and Joe’s Pizza for lunches, but
there are so many wonderful restaurants in the Holbrook Community- you can’t go wrong with
any of them, love them all!

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?

I was born and raised in Holbrook and Holtsville. My Legislative District Office is
located right off main street in Holbrook and is where I have happily been for the last five years

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

One person who immediately comes to mind is Rick Ammirati, the President of the
Holbrook Chamber of Commerce. Rick is not only dedicated to supporting local businesses, but
he’s also deeply invested in building a sense of community and connection in Holbrook. His
passion for uplifting small businesses and fostering collaboration really reflects the best of what
our community stands for. I’ve learned a lot from working with him.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?

A former local business that makes me feel especially nostalgic is Grillo’s Candy Store. It
was a staple of the Holbrook community, and like so many families around here, I grew up
knowing it as more than just a place to pick up a treat. It was always a go-to stop for a snack or a
drink after riding bikes or playing basketball with friends. It was the kind of neighborhood store
where you always run into someone you know. Even though it’s no longer around, the sense of
community it created and the simple joy it brought to so many still sticks with me.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

My favorite thing about our community is Holbrook’s strong communal spirit. It’s
something you can feel every day, whether it’s neighbors looking out for one another, local
businesses stepping up to support community events, or families coming together during both
good times and challenging ones. The sense of connection and pride truly lives on through the
people who call Holbrook home.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

If I could have lunch with anyone alive today, I’d have to choose The Rolling Stones. I
think it would be incredible to hear their stories firsthand and learn what’s kept them inspired and
driven all these years

For Fun

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

I am a big fan of Star Wars and Seinfeld.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I love to play basketball; it is my go-to workout.
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?

A relaxing day with family and friends.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
I’m lucky to be surrounded by people who inspire me every day, but two stand out, my
mother Paula and my Chief of Staff DawnMarie. My mother instilled in me the values of hard
work, kindness, and doing right by others, which have guided me throughout my life. And
DawnMarie, through her tireless dedication, sharp insight, and genuine care for the community,
constantly pushes me to be the best public servant I can be. I’m grateful to have both in my
corner.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

Family, community, and belonging. To me, “home” isn’t just a place, it’s the people, the
shared experiences, and the sense of connection that make you feel grounded and supported.
